"THE HOWLING" Canvas Print
"THE HOWLING"---This image was created around January 2018. At this time we were unsure of what we were going to do next in regard to Geri's next treatment or whether we were going to Mayo Clinic again. We ended up going to Mayo Clinic for the third time. This trip was to determine if Geri could have surgery to remove a tumor that was pressing down on the left side of her brain. The tumor was located in the area that controls motor function to her right arm. Geri had lost all control or use of her right arm because of the swelling around the tumor. She had to learn how to write and use her left hand which was a huge miracle by itself. The tumor was discovered when Geri starting having seizures and the doctors could not figure out why until they did an MRI on her brain. This tumor developed after the breast cancer came back for a second time and spread to other parts of her body. This tumor was causing her to have such pain that on a pain scale of 1 to 10 her base line for pain was a constant 5. Her pain would spike to an 8, 9 or 10 most times as well. It broke my heart to see my wife in so much pain and not be able to do anything to help her. After consulting with the doctors at Mayo it was determined that the surgery to remove the tumor was to risky. Even the most aggressive surgeon at Mayo told us he wouldn't do the surgery because he would do more harm than good. After this news Geri broke down and cried. She was at that point where enough was enough. She was tired. After we left Mayo and got back to our hotel room we prayed and prayed. We were lost, we were at the end of our rope. The wolf is a very emotional animal. This howling wolf image represents how we felt at this point. We were calling out for answers, for direction, for guidance, we were calling out for God's help. The multiple colors represent the infinite emotions we were feeling at that time.
